/ OPEN POSITION
Procurement & Supply Chain Manager
Silicon Quantum Computing (SQC) is at the forefront of global efforts to build the world’s first commercial-scale quantum computer, while delivering quantum-enhanced AI and simulation products to customers today.
Backed by over 25 years of technological excellence, SQC is a full-stack quantum computing company that leverages its proprietary manufacturing process to engineer atomic qubits in silicon with 0.13 nanometer precision. It is the most precise semiconductor manufacturing in the world, enabling systems with world-leading algorithmic fidelity, and a decisive advantage in the global quantum computing race.
Our products are commercially deployed and generating revenue. Watermelon, our quantum-enhanced AI system, is delivering superior results on real-world problems across energy, telecom and finance. Quantum Twins, our simulation platform, provides unparalleled ability to model quantum systems, accelerating molecule and materials discovery.
This is SQC: building the future of computing while delivering quantum impact today.
About the role
SQC's hardware roadmap depends on sourcing specialised equipment, materials and services reliably, and in a tightly regulated environment. As Procurement & Supply Chain Manager, you will own that function end to end, from sourcing and negotiation through to purchasing controls and supplier performance. You will be accountable for cost, supply continuity and procurement risk across the business.
You will work closely with science, engineering and facilities teams, translating technical requirements into sound commercial outcomes. This is a role for someone who brings structure and commercial discipline to a fast-moving environment, is comfortable across both technical and commercial detail, and can build purchasing processes that scale with the business.
Role responsibilities
- Own end-to-end procurement for capital equipment, specialised materials and services across the business.
- Support negotiation of supplier contracts, pricing and service levels, and maintain a supplier framework, onboarding and vendor data that balance cost, quality and continuity of supply.
- Oversee inventory and materials planning to support the technical roadmap and manufacturing timelines.
- Manage supplier risk, including due diligence, sole-source dependencies and contingency planning.
- Work with Legal and Compliance to apply export control, sanctions and dual-use screening to controlled goods.
- Partner with Finance on budget control, capex and opex approvals and spend reporting, and maintain purchasing systems and records to a robust and auditable standard.
- Deliver cost and efficiency improvements across the supply base, and report savings, supplier performance and supply risk to management.
- Raise and manage purchase orders, and process requisitions through to approval.
- Coordinate inbound logistics, freight and customs clearance for imported equipment and materials, including incoterms and delivery scheduling.
- Expedite open orders and track supplier lead times, resolving delivery delays before they affect production.
- Validate receipt of goods and services, and run goods receipting, stores and stock reconciliation.
- Match purchase orders to invoices with Accounts Payable, and resolve pricing and quantity discrepancies.
Your experience
- A demonstrable passion for technology and an interest in frontier tech.
- Substantial procurement or supply chain experience, ideally in deep tech, advanced manufacturing, semiconductors or a comparable hardware environment.
- Strong contract negotiation skills and commercial judgement across capital and operational spend.
- Working knowledge of export controls, sanctions and dual-use regulations, or the ability to develop it quickly.
- A track record of embedding purchasing controls and processes, ideally in a scaling environment.
- Comfortable working across technical and commercial teams, translating requirements into clear supplier outcomes.
- A relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience.
Equal opportunity
SQC is an equal opportunity employer. We value diverse perspectives and experiences, and encourage applications from candidates who may not meet every listed requirement. If you’re excited about the role and believe you can contribute, we encourage you to apply.
Export controls
This position may require access to export-controlled information or technology. Employment may be subject to applicable export control laws and may require eligibility assessment based on factors such as nationality, citizenship, or residency, and, where necessary, obtaining relevant export licenses or approvals.
About SQC
SQC was founded by renowned physicist and materials scientist Michelle Simmons, who pioneered the field of atomic electronics, including the development of the world’s first single-atom transistor and the first integrated circuit built with atomic precision. Our Chair, Simon Segars, former CEO of Arm, is a leader in the semiconductor industry and was instrumental in developing the processors that powered the mobile computing revolution.
As a full-stack company with in-house QPU manufacturing, SQC can design, produce and test new quantum chips in under a week, enabling rapid iteration and a decisive advantage in the race to build the world’s first commercial-scale quantum computer.
SQC is a high-accountability environment built on a simple principle: Every Atom Counts. If you’re looking to play a meaningful role in building the next frontier of computing, we’d love to hear from you.
