Silicon Quantum Computing (SQC) is at the forefront of global efforts to build the world’s first commercial-scale quantum computer, while delivering quantum-enhanced AI and simulation products to customers today.

Backed by over 25 years of technological excellence, SQC is a full-stack quantum computing company that leverages its proprietary manufacturing process to engineer atomic qubits in silicon with 0.13 nanometer precision. It is the most precise semiconductor manufacturing in the world, enabling systems with world-leading algorithmic fidelity, and a decisive advantage in the global quantum computing race.

Our products are commercially deployed and generating revenue. Watermelon, our quantum-enhanced AI system, is delivering superior results on real-world problems across energy, telecom and finance. Quantum Twins, our simulation platform, provides unparalleled ability to model quantum systems, accelerating molecule and materials discovery.

This is SQC: building the future of computing while delivering quantum impact today.

About the role

SQC is seeking a highly capable Executive Assistant to support Michelle Simmons, Founder and CEO, on a nine-month fixed-term contract. This is a senior role for someone who has supported executives or founders at the highest level and can operate with autonomy and sound judgement from day one.

You will act as the primary point of support for the CEO, managing her time, priorities and engagements and keeping her office running smoothly. Across complex scheduling, international travel, board and stakeholder engagement, and the day-to-day operations of a fast-paced deep-tech environment, you will stay calm under pressure and handle confidential and sensitive matters with discretion. While this is a fixed-term contract, there may be scope for further opportunities beyond the initial term for the right person.

Role responsibilities

  • Provide high-level executive and administrative support to the CEO, anticipating needs and managing priorities on her behalf.
  • Manage a complex and changing calendar, meetings and scheduling across multiple time zones.
  • Coordinate domestic and international travel, including detailed itineraries, logistics and contingencies.
  • Manage inbox and correspondence, triaging priorities and following up actions through to completion.
  • Prepare presentations, briefing materials, agendas and supporting documentation for executive and board engagements.
  • Coordinate visits and engagement with government, industry, research and international stakeholders.
  • Coordinate company events, workshops and internal functions.
  • Manage document execution, approvals and administrative workflows.
  • Support cross-functional projects, business initiatives and process improvements.
  • Provide occasional support to other executives and board members, mainly with meeting and travel coordination.
  • Build strong relationships across the business and act as a trusted point of contact for the CEO's office.

Your experience

  • Substantial experience as an Executive Assistant supporting C-suite or senior leaders, ideally a CEO or founder.
  • A track record of operating with autonomy, initiative and sound judgement in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and shifting demands.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with confidence engaging senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience coordinating complex international travel and executive scheduling across time zones.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and common workplace systems.
  • Absolute discretion and professionalism in handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • A calm, proactive and resourceful approach, and a genuine willingness to do what it takes to support the executive team.

About SQC

SQC was founded by renowned physicist and materials scientist Michelle Simmons, who pioneered the field of atomic electronics, including the development of the world’s first single-atom transistor and the first integrated circuit built with atomic precision. Our Chair, Simon Segars, former CEO of Arm, is a leader in the semiconductor industry and was instrumental in developing the processors that powered the mobile computing revolution.

As a full-stack company with in-house QPU manufacturing, SQC can design, produce and test new quantum chips in under a week, enabling rapid iteration and a decisive advantage in the race to build the world’s first commercial-scale quantum computer.

SQC is a high-accountability environment built on a simple principle: Every Atom Counts. If you’re looking to play a meaningful role in building the next frontier of computing, we’d love to hear from you.
